  • This tournament celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2024 by adding a Women’s World Tennis Tour (WTT) 100 event and upgrading the Men’s event to an ATP Challenger Tour 100.
  • Past players in Cary include World Top 15 ATP Professionals Ben Shelton, Francis Tiafoe, Jack Sock, & Tommy Paul.
  • Both men and women professionals ranked in the top 75 in the world are expected to play in 2024.

CARY, NC – The Town of Cary is serving up professional tennis at the Cary Tennis Park, one of the nation’s best public tennis centers, for both Men and Women from August 10-17th. The 10th anniversary of this championship brings exciting changes, including a new name. The Cary Tennis Classic (CTC), formerly known as the Atlantic Tire Championships Men’s event will be elevated from the ATP Challenger Tour 75 level to the ATP Challenger Tour 100 level. In addition to the Men’s event, Cary will be adding a Women’s Professional WTT Tour 100 event.

“We are thrilled to welcome a new field of both Men and Women competitors this year and are happy to see the event grow and thrive. It’s been rewarding to see the response to the tournament each year. Now in its tenth year, we’re seeing many pro players putting this event on their calendar as a can’t miss tournament”, said Sean Ferreira, Cary Tennis Park Services Coordinator and Co-Tournament Director. Most of these players will head directly to New York to compete in the US Open the following week. “I don’t think people realize how high the level of tennis is until they actually sit in the stands. It’s surreal to watch the future of tennis right here in Cary! Many of these players have gone on to play in Wimbledon and other major ATP Tour Events.”, said Sean Ferreira, Cary Tennis Park Services Coordinator and Co-Tournament Director.

With activities and matches every day, there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy some amazing tennis at a public facility that rivals the absolute best in the nation. Community events are an integral part of the week and are a big component of what makes the Cary Tennis Classic so special. “The CTC is all about community and we’ll be showing our support in a variety of ways”, said Ted Reese, Co-Tournament Director. “It’s important for us to give back to Cary and the surrounding community while also showcasing some exciting tennis.”

The week begins with Kid’s Day on Saturday, Wheelchair Tennis Exhibition & Clinic on Sunday, and Abilities Tennis Exhibition Match & Clinic on Wednesday. Community involvement continues Thursday with a Cary Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours Dinner Reception and wraps up on Friday with the Western Wake Tennis Association (WWTA) Women’s Charity Classic to benefit Transitions LifeCare Hospice (over $250k raised) and Youth Scholarships (over $58k raised). This event includes a morning of ladies’ tennis followed by a luncheon with raffles and a silent auction.

Tennis fans can catch the 2024 Cary Tennis Classic from August 10-17th at the Cary Tennis Park. For more information on tickets, players, and match schedule, visit carytennisclassic.com. For media or additional info, please contact Co-Tournament Director Ted Reese.
